An odd little bird lives in my town.
I see him now flying upside down.
He darts at dogs and chases cats.
He tries to snatch off people’s hats.
The other birds fly straight and true.
They seem to have bird work to do.
But this bird loops and sways and swerves.
No straight lines for him, only curves.
He flies up high then dives at me.
I duck as he lands in a tree.
Then hear him whistle and start to sing,
As he puffs up and flaps each wing.
Preparing to take another pass,
To startle and to scare enmassse.
